Op de derde vindplaats waar we zochten, hadden we succes. Dank zij de bloemstengels, want zonder de bloemen zijn ze niet te vinden.

Again many thanks, Mieke, for sharing your photos - not much of a rosette to see but very colourful flowers and the plants growing at the wayside !

Indeed, the rosettes are very basic. Thats the reason why they are so hard to find without flowers.

No, Mieke, this is a misunderstanding, there are no basal rosettes, the rosettes are at the top of the stems, you can see them on the very last photo of your sequence.

My knowledge of english is bad. I would say that there very few and small leaves, not that they stand at the base.
