xTaciveria 'Cerry Princess'???

Muchas gracias!

Re: xTaciveria 'Cerry Princess'???

The name xTaciveria 'Cherry Princess' belongs to a hybrid of Tacitus bellus x Echeveria laui. It seems to be a Japanese hybrid. The Japanese breeder has also named a second hybrid of the same crossing : xTaciveria 'Madonna' which seems to have paler flowers. A seedling of 'Cherry Princess' he has named 'Pink Diamond'.

The same crossing (Tacitus x E. laui) has been made in Germany, named 'Belana', published here :
http://www.crassulaceae.ch/de/artikel?a … B&aID=4457

As you say, the rosette of this hybrid is clearly different from Tacitus, while the flowers are more or less the same. This is no surprise. The chromosome numbers of the two plants can easily explain this :
Tacitus bellus : n = 204
Echeveria laui : n = 15

That means Tacitus is absolutely dominant and if for a hybrid with Tacitus the parentage is not known, it is impossible to guess it.

Whether 'Cherry Princess' of your friend is correct, I cannot know, I have never seen the true one live. In the last years several Tacitus hybrids have been produced, for the reason explained above often not really distinctly different, so no guarantee that the name is attached to the correct plant.

Tom, would you mind translating my answer for our Spanish speaking member ?

Re: xTaciveria 'Cerry Princess'???
